Terms of Service
Last updated: 14 July 2026
These terms govern your use of the BackTalk.sh service at https://backtalk.sh (the “Service”). By creating a workspace or using the Service you agree to these terms.
The Service
BackTalk.sh monitors public conversations across developer platforms for keywords you choose, filters them, and presents them in an inbox with periodic digests. It reads only publicly available content and never posts, messages, or acts on any platform as you. You can also reach your own signals programmatically through our API and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server to bring them into your own tools.
Accounts and workspaces
You sign in with a third-party identity provider (currently Google), and we create a workspace for you on first sign-in. A workspace can be shared with teammates you invite: each member has a role (owner, admin, or member) that controls what they can change, and everyone in a workspace can see its keywords, signals, and the other members. You are responsible for activity under your account, for the people you invite, and for keeping access to your identity provider secure. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction.
Free trial, plans and billing
New workspaces start with a 7-day free trial, with no credit card required. Paid plans are billed in advance through our payment processor. You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and does not refund the current period unless required by law. If a subscription lapses, the workspace becomes read-only: your data is retained, but syncing and edits pause until you resubscribe.
Bring-your-own keys (BYOK)
Some sources and AI features run on API keys you supply. You are responsible for complying with the terms of those providers and for any usage charges they bill you directly. We store your keys encrypted and use them only to operate the features you enabled.
Acceptable use
Don’t use the Service to break the law, to violate a platform’s terms, to harass or surveil individuals, to attempt to access data outside your own workspace, or to abuse our API or MCP endpoints. We may suspend workspaces that abuse the Service or put it at risk.
Your data
You own your workspace data. We claim no ownership of your keywords, notes, or the signals you collect, and we don’t sell your data or use it to train models. Content surfaced from third-party platforms belongs to its authors and those platforms; the Service points to it and stores limited excerpts to operate your inbox. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Availability and warranty
The Service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it available and accurate, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted service or that every relevant mention will be caught; the Service depends on third-party platforms and APIs outside our control.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BackTalk.sh and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, announced in the app. You may stop using the Service and delete your workspace at any time. We may terminate or suspend access for breach of these terms.
